Ditty
Kali
LP
The album's title, KĀLĪ comes from Ditty’s mother tongue, Hindi. In Hindi, KĀLĪ translates to several meanings including darkness, black woman and the goddess KĀLĪ who slays the demons in Hindu philosophy. Ditty draws from her experiences with racism and colourism, she writes about the climate catastrophes of the times that we live in, sings in praise of the natural world and works with making recordings outdoors on this album.
At its heart, KĀLĪ is a testament to DITTY’s artistry—her versatility, musicianship, and fearless songwriting. She moves between languages, reclaiming her mother tongue in a powerful bilingual expression. KĀLĪ is both intimate and bold, a record that does not shy away from difficult truths while still holding space for beauty and resilience.
